PROJECTS

 

FundAmazonia is undertaking a number of research projects related to conservation, climate change, ecology, use of natural resources, sustainable development, protected areas, forestry management, historical and cultural integrity, indigenous issues, management of fishing and wildlife and community-based conservation. The projects cover the following areas:

 

The development of methodologies to monitor indicator and keystone species for wildlife conservation.

 

The development of models for the sustainable use of wildlife by communities in the Peruvian Amazon.

 

The monitoring of wildlife and the implications of climate change impacts along the Samiria River in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.

 

The training of local communities in the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area (TTRCA) in the monotoring of bushmeat hunting using the method of catch-per-unit-effort.

 

The implementation of a pilot project on the certification of peccary pelts in the communities of the TTRCA.

 

The implementation of a pilot project on the certification programme for the conservation of turtles in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.
